The famous website TripAdvisor praised the Vietnam Women’s Museum as the most exciting attractions in Hanoi (out of over 80 attractions) for two consecutive years, 2012 and 2013. The museum which features Vietnamese women’s images is a good place for those who wish to learn more about the S-shaped country and its culture and people.
The museum of Vietnam Women is conveniently located on Ly Thuong Kiet Street which is only 500 meters from Hanoi Old Quarter. Established in 1987, the museum has played an important role in researching, preserving and exhibiting tangible and intangible cultural heritages of Vietnamese women, along with the Vietnam Women’s Union. Also, the Vietnam Women’s Museum offers chance for Vietnamese and international women to exchange cultural activities for equality, development and peace of women.
There are nearly 25,000 documents and objects reflecting the great contribution of Vietnamese women to history and contemporary life, displaying in the total area of more than 2000 square meters.
The museum is well-arranged like a history book, where visitors can enjoy the exhibits like turning pages of a history book. It comprises 4 stories, each of which is a chapter of the book with vivid images, documents and diverse objects will introduce you more about Vietnamese women.
In addition, there exhibit variety of women’s clothes from different Vietnam’s ethnic minority groups inside the Vietnam Women’s Museum. With the hope of giving visitors the best services, the museum has equipped modern facilities to help visitors learn more about the life of Vietnamese women. Furthermore, audio guides are also available in some exhibit rooms.
